Recovery Walk Scotland is the largest recovery event in Scotland and has been held in different locations across our beautiful country since 2013. The event is comprised of three parts: Roses in the River Memorial, Recovery Walk Scotland procession through the town and a Recovery Festival and Village in Glasgow Green.
Recovery Walk Scotland is supported by many organisations and community groups. Last year over 4,000 people took part in Recovery Walk Scotland in Greenock. Details of this years event in Glasgow can be found on our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram), just search for Recovery Walk Scotland.
11 am: Roses in the Clyde Ceremony
12pm: Walk begins and ends from Glasgow Green.
1pm: Recovery Festival Opens with speeches and live music
3.50pm: Closing Speech & Serenity Prayer
The walk is approximately 2 miles through Glasgow City Centre (which should take just under an hour). We ask that anyone taking part in the walk/procession is fit and able to complete the walk and that you wear appropriate footwear for walking this distance. For anyone who is unable to take part, you are welcome to gather in the Recovery Village/Festival area after the Roses in the Clyde ceremony to welcome the procession back.
Please be prepared for all weather conditions, including sunscreen/block, hats, hoods and possibly an umbrella tucked in for good measure.
To all groups who have registered, please make sure to pass this information on to everyone coming on the day.
We are also looking for additional volunteer stewards for the day, if your group are able to offer any bodies from your group to help out, could you please contact Heather via email on heather@scottishrecoveryconsortium.org
There will be video recording and photography taken on the day which may be used for Scottish Recovery Consortium social media, websites and documents to remember the day. If you do not wish for your image to be used, please contact staff at the SRC stall within the Recovery Village on the day.
On behalf of the Recovery Walk Scotland team, we look forward to seeing you all there!
