Polysubstance Use and Cocaine: Engaging and Supporting People

The third of Scottish Drugs Forum’s Winter Webinar series will be held online via Zoom Wednesday 26 February 2025 13.00-14.15.

Last year, for the first time in Scotland, cocaine was the main drug of use of people presenting for drug treatment.  This is a significant moment and should be driving necessary change in how people involved in polysubstance use involving stimulants are supported, the treatment offer available and the design of harm reduction services.

This webinar will have inputs from:

Magdalena Harris of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine who is the principal investigator for Safe Inhalation Pipe Provision (SIPP), a mixed method evaluation of an intervention to reduce health harms and enhance service engagement among people who use crack cocaine in England.

John Campbell, Injecting Equipment Provision Improvement Manager, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde who will give an overview of the issues raised by the rise in cocaine and crack use among people whose polydrug use was previously focussed in opiate use.

Discussion, question and answers.
