Parental Substance Use and the Impact on Children and Young People

Parental Substance use and its impact on children and young people is a short training course that aims to:

  • increase knowledge and awareness of the possible impact of substance use on a child and young person.
  • explore the role all services play in supporting children young people and their families impacted by substance use.
  • explore individual, familiar and community protective factors in relation to supporting children.
  • increase understanding around potential impact of ACES and Trauma on Parental Substance Use.
  • increase understanding of the impact of stigma.
  • explore recovery from problematic parental substance use, specifically focusing on children and young people.
