Drugs and Bugs – Bacterial Infection Outbreaks

This session will be held online using MS Teams. A link will be emailed prior to the course.

Please join from 13.00 for a prompt 13.15 start.

An introduction to bacterial infection in people who use drugs. 

The training will give an overview of bacterial infection and various outbreaks seen in Scotland. It gives participants the opportunity to explore harm reduction information relevant to bacterial infection. The training will provide an overview of the main signs and symptoms which practitioners should be aware of and will encourage participants to think about and develop a response relevant to their services. 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Have increased knowledge around bacterial infection related to drugs in Scotland 
  • Have increased confidence to deliver harm reduction information to people who use drugs 
  • Begin to recognise symptoms of infection and effective responses 
  • Have an idea of effective responses to potential outbreaks which can be implemented in your area
