Celebrating Families Week (23rd-27th June) is dedicated to families affected by alcohol and drugs. The week highlights the challenges families face and champions their love and power, it is a time to recognise the important role that families play in our lives and communities. 

NLADP’s local family support services will be hosting local events, sharing resources, and doing lots of fun and exciting things to spread messages of hope, and provide comfort and support for local families. 

What is planned throughout the week?

Landed Peer Education Service are providing a drug awareness workshop for local parents and carers from 5.30pm, in Wishaw YMCA, Quarry Street, Wishaw, ML2 7NY

Routes by Routes video launch – hear from young people being supported by the Routes service on what Routes means to them, created the Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs team.
Phoenix Family Service are hosting a craft stall from 11-2:30pm in Summerlee Museum, Coatbridge, ML5 1QD

Phoenix Family Service are hosting a Families Wellness Day from 12:00-2.30pm, which will include activities such as drumming, mindfulness, crafts and a small lunch. Unit 68 Fountain Business Centre, 19 Ellis Street, Coatbridge, ML5 3AA

Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs are hosting a training event in Glasgow – Caring for someone who uses alcohol or drugs (link below)


 
Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs are hosting an online event – What Works for Families: Supporting Neurodiverse Loved Ones, 12-2pm – If you’re part of a family supporting someone who’s both neurodivergent and using substances, we’d really like to hear from you (link below)
Family Fun Day at the studio, Albert Street, Motherwell, ML1 1PR (11am-1.30pm) On the day there will be food, activities, stalls and a magician Collaboration between Barnardo’s Axis, Families Here and Now service, Family Plus service and family connections service.

Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire has signed up to Care Opinion, a website which allows patients to share their stories online.

Care Opinion is an independent, not-for-profit, website that gives patients and carers a way of voicing what they think of the services they receive.

We will listen to positive and negative comments and respond to those in a way that is honest, supportive and constructive.

We will use this feedback to make our services in North Lanarkshire the best they can be.
