This is an interactive half day training session which can help ensure that you have the skills, knowledge and
confidence to talk about alcohol and its harms, and signpost people affected by alcohol.
The course covers a range of topics exploring the impact of alcohol on individuals and society and the
support that is available.
Who is it for?
Anyone seeking to better understand alcohol, its impact and basic ways in which they can provide
basic support and signpost others affected by it. Especially useful for those working in supportive
roles such as caring and support services, i.e. housing, addictions, community-based support services etc.
Learning outcomes:
• Describe alcohol as a substance and explore how it affects the body.
• Discuss the impact of alcohol on Scottish society.
• Apply basic strategies to support those affected by alcohol.
